Healing Hands

Emergency Physician | Wound Care | Geriatric & Home-Based Medicine

Dr. Paul Miranda is a board-certified emergency physician with over 20 years of experience serving patients throughout East Tennessee. His career has spanned emergency medicine, geriatrics, hospice, and home-based care—providing him with a deep understanding of the complex medical and social challenges patients face outside of the hospital.

Much of Dr. Miranda’s work has focused on caring for elderly and medically vulnerable individuals, particularly those dealing with chronic wounds, limited mobility, and multiple comorbid conditions. Through years of bedside experience in nursing homes, private residences, and acute care settings, he has developed a practical, patient-centered approach to wound care—one that prioritizes healing, comfort, and quality of life.

He believes effective wound care extends beyond dressings and procedures. It requires attention to the whole patient: nutrition, mobility, circulation, underlying disease, and the environment in which healing must occur. His goal is to deliver thoughtful, consistent care that reduces complications, prevents hospitalizations, and helps patients maintain dignity in their own setting.

Why I Do This

Over the years, I’ve seen how something as “simple” as a wound can change the course of a person’s life.

A small pressure injury becomes infected. A diabetic foot ulcer leads to hospitalization. A preventable wound becomes a reason someone loses their independence.

Too often, these patients fall into gaps—between hospital care, outpatient follow-up, and home support. Wounds get treated in isolation, instead of as part of a bigger picture.

I’ve also spent a significant part of my career caring for elderly patients—in nursing homes, in hospice, and in their homes. I’ve seen firsthand how much better outcomes can be when care is consistent, proactive, and brought directly to the patient.

That’s why Healing Hands exists.

The goal is simple: provide reliable, high-quality wound care where patients are most comfortable, while addressing the underlying factors that actually allow healing to occur. Not just treating wounds—but helping people avoid the complications that come with them.
